In view of interesting heavy quark and quarkonia results coming from the heavy ion programmes of the ALICE and CMS experiments, this workshop focusses on recent developments in lattice gauge theory methods and field theoretical approaches to heavy quarks and quarkonia in thermal QCD. In particular, topics such as (1) heavy quark transport in quark-gluon plasma, (2) quarkonia in thermal environment, (3) technical developments in lattice simulations and analytic approaches, and (4) new observables and ideas related to heavy quarks and quarkonia in hot QCD, will be discussed during the workshop.
